A 56-year-old man found dead in Mazamet: he allegedly committed suicide by throwing himself off the footbridge

The lifeless body of a 56-year-old man was found this Thursday afternoon in Mazamet. He would have jumped from the footbridge.

A 56-year-old man lost his life in Mazamet this Thursday afternoon around 2 p.m. His body was found on the Route des Usines and he apparently ended his life by jumping from the footbridge which overlooks the Arnette gorges.

This is the 7th person to commit suicide by throwing themselves into the void of the footbridge since it opened to the public in 2018. The last was a little over a month ago. On September 25, a 51-year-old woman decided to end her life in this way. In June, then last July, a man and then a woman were saved by passers-by just before committing the irreparable.
