A young adult aged 19 was arrested on Tuesday and has been in pre-trial detention since Wednesday. He is suspected of being the shooter who fatally shot a 35-year-old father in the back in May 2024, in Carénage. The victim only asked to get out of her house; a car was blocking the exit from his residence. His murder caused great emotion.
A suspect was arrested on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 and is already incarcerated, as part of the investigation into the murder of a 35-year-old father, in front of his residence, in Carénage, on May 11. The Pointe-à-Pitre public prosecutor explains, this Thursday, in a press release, under what conditions this man was apprehended, even though he had been quickly identified.
The suspect is a 19-year-old man, born and living in Les Abymes.
He was reported to have fled to Dominica immediately after the events.
A search warrant and then an international arrest warrant were issued against him. It was thanks to this procedure that he was arrested on Tuesday.
Brought before the investigating judge in charge of the case yesterday (November 6), the young adult was indicted for murder, then placed in pre-trial detention.

Dimitri Martot had to go to work the morning he was killed. It was while leaving his home that he was shot in the back.
The investigation, entrusted to the police station, then to the criminal brigade of the Territorial Directorate of the National Police (DTPN), revealed that the victim was prevented from leaving the parking lot of his residence, by poorly parked vehicles. The father then asked, in the nearby bar, for the owner of a car to move it. An altercation followed. Then an individual with a handgun fired; a deadly projectile.
Dimitri Martot's family was plunged into incomprehension and deep sadness.
