The subject has been agitating the Aindinois political Landerneau for a long time and irritates the wine producers of Bugey who regret that the nuclear power plant, installed in Saint-Vulbas on the banks of the Rhône, is baptized with the same name as their controlled designation of origin.
To no longer suffer from this proximity which could harm their production, wine growers are demanding that the nuclear electricity production center be renamed after the name “Bugey”.
The elected officials of the Ain department, led by parliamentarians, support this action, with numerous steps.
“It is up to EDF to manage the current situation”
At a time when Olga Givernet, former deputy for the third constituency of Ain, now deputy minister in charge of energy, is visiting a nuclear power plant in Aube, Progress asked her about her position on the subject.
The member of the Barnier government recalls that she “had co-signed a letter with other elected officials from Indin and the president of the department when she was a parliamentarian to support the position of the wine growers and a change of name of the central”, before put a caveat: “It is up to EDF to manage the current situation as it wishes,” notes Olga Givernet.
