This man explained that the suspect would have hit this woman after an argument, then strangled her and thrown her into the Seine.
The suspect known to the police
Police went to the address given, a barge, and arrested the intoxicated man. He spontaneously declared to the police that the victim, born in 1970 and described as his former partner, had not fallen into the water by accident, according to the prosecution.
According to this same source, the suspect, already known to the police and justice services, particularly for traffic offenses, was the tenant of part of the barge.
Two teams of police and fire divers found the woman's body on the bow of the boat. The victim's body was transported to the Garches forensic institute (Hauts-de-Seine), where an autopsy must be carried out on Thursday, November 7, said the prosecutor.
On average, a feminicide occurs every three days in France. The Ministry of Justice counted 94 femicides in 2023, compared to 118 in 2022.
