Lebanon is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis since the start of Israeli strikes, with alarming figures released by the Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health. The November 5, 2024 report highlights the scale of human losses and the challenges facing the health sector.
A heavy human toll that continues to grow
Since the beginning of the aggression, Lebanon deplores 3 050 martyrs et 13,658 injured. The single day of November 5 recorded 37 new martyrs et 105 injureda figure which reflects the intensity of the strikes and the increasing fragility of the security situation for civilians.
The regions most affected by Israeli strikes
Human losses are spread across several governorates, including:
- North Lebanon : 26 martyrs, 37 injured
- Baalbek-Hermel : 5 martyrs, 24 injured
- South Lebanon : 3 martyrs, 27 injured
- Mount Lebanon : no deaths but many injuries
These figures show that the aggression is not limited to border areas, but affects more distant regions, endangering civilian populations in residential and cultural areas.
The health sector under unsustainable pressure
The health sector is directly targeted, worsening an already critical situation. According to the report:
- 179 health personnel lost their lives and 306 others were injured.
- 63 hospitals were hit, seriously affecting healthcare capabilities.
- 212 attacks targeted emergency services, disrupting rescue and medical assistance efforts.
These attacks on health infrastructure and healthcare personnel represent serious violations of international humanitarian law, compromising Lebanon’s ability to treat the wounded and protect civilians in the midst of a crisis.

Lebanon, already weakened by economic and political crises, today finds itself cornered by a military aggression which affects essential civilian infrastructure. The international community is called upon to intervene to ensure the protection of civilians and health infrastructure, ensuring that international standards are respected.
