American presidential election: “Donald Trump wins this election more easily than expected”

Jean-Marie Ruiz, lecturer in American civilization at the University of Savoie Mont-Blanc, was our guest this Wednesday, November 6 to react to the first results of the American presidential election.

This is a scenario quite different from what was predicted which played out in the United States. The polls announced very close results, but ultimately, Donald Trump continued to be in the lead in the election this Wednesday, November 6. Still no final results at the time of writing these lines, but victory seems promised to him.

“What was predicted was that it was the swing states that would make the difference, that remains true”according to Jean-Marie Ruiz, lecturer in American civilization at the University of Savoie Mont-Blancinvited this Wednesday, November 6 to react to the first results of the American presidential election. “But the surprise is that it's not that close. There are two swing states that Kamala Harris was expected to win where the scores aren't that close. So it's true that what is surprising is that Donald Trump wins this election more easily than expected”he analyzed.

“Changes in traditional electorates”

The result of this election is somewhat surprising in the eyes of Jean-Marie Ruiz. “Seen from , it's always surprising because we say to ourselves that there are so many excesses and a language from Donald Trump which is so caustic. So there are sociological reasons, there are changes in traditional electorates, particularly among minorities, who normally remain a majority.” Jean-Marie Ruiz depending on who it takes “in the coming days, the coming weeks, analyze the reasons for this scenario.”
