A house catches fire in Soudron, southwest of Châlons

Amid the patches of fog still persistent on this afternoon of Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the plumes of smoke were still visible upon entering the village of Soudron, located southwest of Châlons-en-Champagne. A few hundred meters further on, in the main street of the town, a fire broke out in a house around 2:30 p.m.

Quickly informed, firefighters dispatched from the emergency centers of Châlons, Sommesous, Fère-Champenoise but also from the first intervention center of Soudron took part in the operations.

Having managed to get out before the arrival of the rescuers, the occupants of the home, aged 80 and 83, were taken care of by the latter. Their state of health did not require a transfer to the hospital center.

No spread, no injuries

At the same time, other firefighters attacked the fire. The ground floor was then engulfed in flames, but the fire fighters managed to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading using three lances. According to initial findings, the fire started from the couple's bathroom.
