screenshot management will radically change after this update

Google is working on an almost total overhaul of Pixel Screenshots, the application dedicated to managing screenshots. The planned changes are all in the right direction, here they are.

The address of a restaurant, an image that gives us an idea, a message not to be forgotten… There are a thousand and one reasons to take a screenshot on your Android smartphone. It's often one of the gestures that we learn first when we discover how to use our mobile phone. If you're in the habit of making them often, but don't take the time to organize them, they can quickly become cumbersome.

Google is aware of this and has developed an application entirely dedicated to them: Pixel Screenshots. As its name suggests, it only works on Pixel devices, although for the moment the app is exclusive to the Pixel 9 range, which includes the Pixel 9 Fold.

Older models will benefit sooner or later, though we don't yet know when. The advantage is that the firm has time to refine it before deploying it elsewhere, and that is exactly what it is doing with this major update future.

Google will change the way it manages screenshots on Pixel smartphones

Currently, the app displays when opening the Collections (albums) and some captures. You must press the arrow icon on the right to access all of those recorded. In the new version, you will be able to see them all from the home page under the heading Screenshots. The latter has a button allowing you to modify its display (grid, list, etc.).

Another change: support for the gesture consisting of leaving your finger pressed on the screen and sliding it to select multiple captures at the same time. Faster than the classic method of doing a long press on a capture and then checking those that interest us one by one.

Finally, note the possibility of rename your collectionsas well as the addition of two shortcuts accessible by holding down the Pixel Screenshots icon. The first allows you to capture what is displayed, the other to add an image to the app. Practical.
