The Association of Peasant Writers and Artists (AEAP) is organizing, for the second consecutive year, its short story competition at the end of which the Jean-de-La-Brète prize will be awarded.
Jean de La Brète, pen name of Alice Cherbonnel, is a novelist born in Saumur in 1858 and died at the priory of Breuil-Bellay, in the commune of Cizay-la-Madeleine, in 1945. The aim of this competition is to participate in literary creation by promoting the emergence of ignored or repressed talents.

The competition is open to everyone. The theme of the short story must be anchored in the rural world of the past, present or future. The short story will contain between 2,000 and 20,000 graphic characters (including spaces). A collection of the best short stories may be published with the authorization of the authors. Finally, like last year, a bonus of €500 will accompany the presentation of this prize.
In 2024, for the first edition, the Jean-de-La-Brète prize for the new peasant woman was awarded to Anne Perret-Phichitkul (Rhône) for her title “Les Chemins obscurs”.
