According to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Morocco has climbed the ranks, going from 41st to 31st place in the world in terms of tourism revenue between 2019 and 2023. This is what the magazine reports The Observer of Morocco and Africa. The Minister of Tourism, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, emphasizes that this performance is the result of targeted efforts, the increase in air connections and effective promotion.
“With 13.1 million visitors recorded at the end of September 2024, Morocco shows continued growth, attracting an increasing number of tourists,” we read. Tourism revenues reach record highs, with 17 billion dirhams ($1.74 billion) in August, an increase of almost 20% compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, revenue for the first eight months of 2024 exceeds $7.83 billion, demonstrating a solid recovery from the pandemic.
The report Country Brand Ranking/Tourism Edition 2024-2025 by Bloom Consulting places Morocco second among African destinations, surpassing South Africa for the first time, and highlights the country's engagement on social networks as well as its resilience in the face of crises such as the earthquake of September 2023.
The objectives set in the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap are ambitious: generate 120 billion dirhams ($12 billion) in revenue by 2026 by increasing the number of visitors and diversifying the offer.
