Israel says it killed Hezbollah intelligence chief for Syria in strike in Damascus

The Israeli army said Monday it had killed Hezbollah’s intelligence chief for Syria in an airstrike in Damascus, where the Shiite party has a significant presence.

The army “carried out an air operation and struck (…) targets belonging to Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters”, it said in a statement, adding that it had “also eliminated Mahmoud Mohammed Chahine, the leader of the Syrian intelligence branch of Hezbollah” in this strike which took place in Damascus according to a military source at AFP.

“Fighter jets targeted infrastructure and facilities associated with Hezbollah’s intelligence sector in Damascus,” Avichay Adraee, an Arabic-speaking spokesperson for the Israeli army, wrote on X. He also recalls that the Israeli army eliminated Ali Hussein Hazimé, intelligence chief of the Shiite party during the same operation which also cost the life of Hachem Safieddine, president of the Executive Council of Hezbollah, on October 3.
