who is Sarah Schwab, the young impersonator, star of TikTok, who comes to the Landes?

CShe is a young person of her time. Who has taken over social networks and telecrochet shows. At the age of 12, Sarah Schwab launched her YouTube channel where she regularly covers and posts songs. A spotlight that allowed her to be spotted by the show “The Voice Kids” (season 1) and to be coached by Louis Bertignac. At 19, after studying English, she tried again with adults and seduced Amel Bent in the same show. Without winning yet.

For two years, and at only 24 years old, she has been in the heyday of TikTok, a platform for sharing short videos, where she stands out thanks to her imitations. It brings together a community of more than 1.5 million subscribers, including a certain… Patrick Sébastien. The adventure on stage can then begin. She will present her show “From Dream to Reality” on November 9 in Mézos, at the Le Mirage cabaret.

You wanted to pursue a career as a singer and here you are as an imitator. Where did the click come from?

I’m not an impersonator or a singer, I’m both (laughs). We can’t really speak of a trigger, it’s more the result of chance. When I started making my videos on Tiktok, one every two days or so, I had to renew myself, to do something different. And I said to myself: “Why not imitation”. I made a video with four voices (Dalida, Vanessa Paradis, Lara Fabian and Cœur de Pirate) and the enthusiasm was direct. I was asked to do it again and my videos were viewed millions of times each time. This is what allowed me to be contacted by television, newspapers and radios within a week.

You dream of being a singer. Isn’t it a little frustrating to have to go through other people’s voices for your show?

I always dream of it and, moreover, it is not at all excluded from what I do. I like being able to juggle between the two whenever I want. And I don’t hesitate to keep my own voice on stage too.

The show lasts 80 minutes. What would you say to someone who doesn’t know you to attract them to your show?

It’s completely different from videos. And then, it’s always better to go see the artists live: there is an exchange, an emotion that emerges from each voice. It’s also a show that brings everyone together because I’m going to do 100 voices on stage: there are singers from the 1950s to today. In English, in French. We will find opera and even Disney. There is something to please everyone.

Patrick Sébastien wrote and directed the show. It’s a great recognition, isn’t it?

Yes, Patrick contacted me after my first video. He fell in love with art at first sight and immediately got in touch with me. Three days later, I was in in his office. He helped me find the story that is the common thread of the show, based on my life: a young girl in her bedroom who dreams of becoming a great singer and who imitates those who inspire her.
