That evening, the Bourges hospital explained in a press release sent to France Bleu Berry that the parents of the young footballer called on the 15th to report the “worrying state of health” of the 13-year-old boy and were referred to SOS Doctors, who were to make an appointment with them two hours later.
But less than an hour after the first phone call, Israel Tambu Kipepe's family called the emergency number again, reporting “the rapid deterioration of the child's state of health.” Firefighters and a team from Smur (Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Structure) then went to his home, but the child was already in cardio-respiratory arrest when they arrived and they were unfortunately unable to resuscitate him. An investigation was opened to investigate the causes of the child's death.

In a moving testimony to France 3 Centre-Val-de-Loire, Apollinaire Tambu agreed to return to the tragedy that affected his family. The man explains that Israel, 13 years old, played for Bourges FC and had been selected to participate in a detection course in Châteauroux with other friends during the school holidays. However, on October 22, the teenager had “a fall” there and, when he returned the next day, he “was only sleeping”.

As Israel's health worsened, Apollinaire Tambu took him to the Bourges emergency room on October 24. “We took care of him, the doctor prescribed an X-ray, we put a splint on his arm, another on his leg,” remembers the father, indicating that he was also prescribed medication. But, he recalls, “he was always weak, he had difficulty walking. We thought it was because of the medication. »
Only, four days later, Israel's state of health “suddenly deteriorated”, prompting Apollinaire Tambu to call the ambulance. It was then 9 p.m. and they were given an appointment at SOS Médecin at 11 p.m. But at 10:10 p.m., as father and son were preparing to leave, Israel lost consciousness. “He wasn’t moving,” remembers the father, who called back on the 15th. “I told them he was breathing,” he confides. I couldn't say that my child was dead. »

The firefighters and Samu finally arrived shortly after 10:30 p.m. and could only note the child's death. “They did everything they could,” recognizes Apollinaire Tambu. But the latter now intends to “understand the death of [s] let's go and let justice be done.” “We have not yet accepted that Israel has left,” he confides to our colleagues.
A tribute on the pitch this weekend
The Bourges Football Club, where Israel played, paid tribute to the young teenager in a Facebook message and indicated that a tribute will be paid to him this weekend during all matches played by Bourges FC teams. “Israel was extraordinary,” laments Apollinaire Tambu. “He was independent. He didn't like being helped. He was good at school, he worked. »
