Floods of September and October in Mandelieu: victims invited to declare themselves

In recent weeks, bad weather has caused a lot of damage in the region. On September 23, in just over an hour, 40mm of water fell in , 64.6mm in Mandelieu and 49.1mm in Pégomas.

On October 16, it was Pégomas in particular which was impacted by bad weather. Boulevard de la Mourachonne suffered from the rise of the river, which spilled onto the roadway. Neighboring stores had to be evacuated. That same day, Mandelieu saw its city center flooded…

The municipality announced that it had filed two requests for recognition of the state of natural disaster. The first for “floods and runoff”, in the context of the bad weather of October 16 and 18, during an accelerated procedure and the second, for “ground movement” between October 16 and 18.

Quantified damages, photos…

The City indicates that residents who have suffered damage linked to these climatic events are invited “to declare their claim to their insurance company; to submit to the town hall, to the Insurance department (04.92.97.30.28.) or by email ([email protected]) a file specifying the nature of their damage, quantifying their cost of repair and supplemented, where possible, with a photo of the damaged property.

This makes it possible to quantify the impact on the population and to warn the citizens concerned once recognition of the state of natural disaster has been obtained, if it is obtained.

An accelerated procedure

The prefecture has launched an accelerated procedure for requesting recognition of the state of natural disaster following the bad weather.

The municipalities (1) had until October 24 to submit a file. What many town halls such as Cannes and did, following the heavy damage caused during the bad weather on September 23.

Mougins made two requests for recognition of the state of disaster: one concerning September 23, the other on October 17 and 18.

submitted a file for the bad weather from October 16 to 19, and Pégomas for the period from October 16 to 18.

Bar-sur-Loup has made a request for recognition of the state of natural disaster concerning the floods (runoff and mudslides) of October 17 and 18. It remains to be seen whether these files will be accepted…
