After an increase of 2.2% in 2023 as well as another increase of 1.77% in 2024, the price of milk will fall slightly in 2025. The change will be in effect from February 1.
The 0.0237% price drop will equate to less than one cent per liter.
“This decline was calculated using the National Pricing Formula, a pricing mechanism that was established by the industry. The formula takes into account the production costs of dairy producers as well as the consumer price index. explains the CCL in a press release sent on Friday.
The Commission cannot say at the moment what impact this reduction will have on the market and on consumers.
Provincial authorities must now approve the reduction. In Quebec, the Régie des Marchés Agricole et Alimentaires du Québec is responsible for the process.
