It was unexpected last Monday, Clermont Foot took six more points this Friday, November 1, 2024 and placed itself back in the middle of the Ligue 2 table. The Clermontois won 2-1 against FC Lorient in a beautiful atmosphere at the Gabriel-Montpied stadium, for the 12th day of Ligue 2.
Clermont Foot opened the scoring at the best of times, just before returning to the locker room (45th). On a great cross-shot from Jérémy Jacquet, Damien Da Silva cuts the trajectory to ensure that the ball ends up in the back of the net and gives confidence to a Clermont team who really needed it.
Confidence is back
FC Lorient may play hard in the second half, but they cannot shake up Clermont Foot enough. And with a firecracker in the 77th minute, Maïdine Douane scored the 2-0 goal for Clermont Foot. The end of the match was nevertheless disputed, with a penalty whistled for a logical fault in the area by Johan Gastien (80th).
FC Lorient reduces the score to 2-1 thanks to Tosin but will not manage to grab the point of the draw in the last moments. In the rankings, Clermont Foot temporarily rises to 11th place but above all takes 4 points ahead of the first relegation place. The most important thing is perhaps elsewhere: Clermont finally seems to have regained confidence.
