A tragic attack took place on Friday, when a Hezbollah rocket attack killed four Thai farm workers and injured another near the Israeli town of Metula, on the border with Lebanon.
Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, assuring that the Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv was providing them with all the necessary support.
In response to this attack targeting civilians, the Thai government took measures to ensure the safety of Thai workers still present in northern Israel. Labor Minister Phipat Ratchakitprakarn ordered their evacuation to safer areas in the south. Thai authorities have also confirmed their support for affected families, with aid and compensation planned. This tragic event highlights the dangers faced by migrant workers in conflict zones.
In recent years, Thailand has sent several thousand workers to Israel, mainly for agricultural jobs, but the current conflict now exposes them to significant risks.
