An outbreak of fire in the Soler garage workshops required the intervention of around thirty Gers firefighters. The fire started from a vehicle on a lifting bridge. The rapid intervention of the emergency services made it possible to preserve the entire production tool.
A fire broke out this Thursday, October 31 in the workshops of the Soler garages, bringing together the Iveco and Eurotyre brands, located in the Grand Chêne area in Auch. The fire apparently started from a vehicle installed on a lifting bridge. The alert was given shortly before 1:30 p.m. by employees: while they were enjoying their southern break, they smelled a burning smell. They then saw smoke coming from the workshops and initially tried to put out the flames with fire extinguishers. When the fire did not stop, the employees called “18” and left the building. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
Nearly thirty firefighters therefore intervened on the site, with a total surface area of 1,600 m². The massive commitment of the emergency services made it possible to quickly extinguish the burning vehicle and “to preserve the entire production tool and offices”, indicated the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service in an initial assessment. In the middle of the afternoon, reconnaissance was underway at the roof of the building, made of metal frames and steel cladding.
Faced with the presence of combustible products in the workshops, the police evacuated three other companies, or more than fifty people. The latter were able to return to their premises around 2:30 p.m.
The intervention of the firefighters having made it possible to save the Iveco and Eurotyre workshops, “there will be no technical unemployment”, indicates the owner of the premises, relieved after “this big scare”.
