The UQO Torrents played the first match in their history

On Saturday, October 26, the Torrents men’s team from the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO), playing in University Division 2 of the Quebec Student Sports Network (RSEQ), played the very first match in its history. In a duel played at the Aréna de la Rivière-du- in Saint-Jérôme, the team delivered a competitive performance throughout the three periods, but ultimately had to lose 6-3 against the Stingers of the Concordia University.

It was number 44 Dylan Duval who scored the first goal in Torrents history, with the help of number 87 Jeremy Normandeau and number 22 Mathis Boudreau, equalizing the score at 1-1 in the first period.

“UQO can be proud this morning, because yesterday the very first Torrents match was held. The event was a complete success, made possible thanks to the dedication and contribution of a dozen UQO volunteers – students, staff members, as well as friends of our establishment. Thanks also to all the Torrents fans present to support the team. Finally, as promised, there was no recorded version of the national anthem for the season. Megan Andrews, UQO student and artist, delivered an impressive performance of the Canadian anthem,” we could read on the team’s social media the day after the match.

The Torrents will play their next match next Friday at 7:45 p.m. against the ÉTS Piranhas, at the Branchaud-Brière complex in Gatineau.
