Aurec-sur-: victims of the floods, these traders were able to count on their customers

In Aurec-sur-, three companies were victims of flooding in the former dyeing workshops. Merchants were able to count on the valuable help of their customers.

Fabien Suzat (Carrosserie du pont and Touring Car) and Alexandre Barbier (Garage Alex) regained their morale on Saturday. But Thursday and Friday, with the floods and the damage, “morale was at its lowest” according to Alexandre Barbier. “We had 15 cm of water in the garage.”

But the two automotive professionals were able to count on the spontaneous support of their customers and friends. Dav Négoce in Saint-Etienne closed his business to help them with his two employees. Around thirty customers, including the mechanic’s and bodybuilder’s insurer, rolled up their sleeves. “It’s a great show of solidarity. We were even surprised. But it did us good.”

The 2008 flood served as a lesson

Fabien Suzat experienced the flood in 2008, a few months after opening. This experience served him well for this new flood. “In 2008, the water rose higher. But the water, whether there is 20 cm or 1 m, the damage remains the same. We took all the vehicles out of the basement. We were able to park them in the yard of the recycling center we raised everything we could, the equipment, the tools, the IT.”

Alexandre Barbier plans to reopen his garage on Monday. “I have no choice, we must reopen as quickly as possible.”
