Mantes-la-Jolie: the parents of Othmane, who died in an elevator, will be fixed on January 22, 2025

Soumia and her husband will return to court a seventh time. Friday afternoon, the Court of Appeal reserved its judgment in the case between this couple from Mantes-la-Jolie () and the elevator manufacturer Otis. Their son Othmane died in October 2015 in a faulty elevator in the city of Val-Fourré.

The magistrates announced that they would make their decision on January 22. The hearing, very technical, did not focus on the criminal aspect: despite his successive appeals, Otis was definitively convicted in this case.

The company, however, contested the compensation to which it had been ordered. According to his lawyer, the parents’ responsibilities had not been sufficiently discussed during previous trials. “How can they claim that? confided Soumia a few days ago. They were convicted, despite their appeals. And yet, they persist in blaming us, saying that our child should never have been alone! They never apologized. »

The legal ordeal should therefore end on January 22, 2025. Barring improbable legal proceedings, the case will be definitively closed. It lasted more than nine years.
