You are launching Dieppe generation 2026, what is it about?

François Leduc: It is a movement which was created with a view to the next municipal elections which aim to bring together all people of good will. It is a citizen movement which aims to give our city, Dieppe, the place it deserves and to turn the page on current management which contributes to its decline.

Do you think Dieppe is declining?

We are declining more and more, we are losing more and more people. Dieppe’s structures are declining: closure of the baths, the Cité de la mer and I’m not talking about the roads… The city is becoming less and less attractive. The goal is to find, with Dieppe generation 2026, solutions.

For you, this decline of the city is the responsibility of the majority in place?

I think it’s clear. Even at the level of the existing majority, we see that environmentalists do not completely agree with the ideas of the municipality. We can ask ourselves questions. I don’t know if the residents are proud to be from Dieppe these days.

What exactly do you criticize Nicolas Langlois and his majority?

Its entire management. Can we consider that Dieppe is attractive today? Both in terms of employment and training of young people in Dieppe. What do we have today to make young people stay? There is the problem of health, we have a medical desert which is at its highest. We need to change these kinds of things. For this, we need people who bring ideas, this is the desire of the Dieppe generation 2026 group.

You also mention a large political gathering, Dieppe generation 2026 has no political color?

It will be made up of a broad political spectrum from the liberal left to the liberal right, the center and even people who have no political label. It’s even about trying to bring back into politics people who no longer vote because they find it no longer worth it. We want to tell them that they can express themselves and that expression within the movement will be free.

Have you had the opportunity to speak with the current municipal opposition?

I started by contacting my counterparts who are presidents of political parties in Seine-Maritime. The majority responded rather favorably. We are therefore holding a first meeting on November 21 in Dieppe to present our project and the people who are involved in it.

Is your goal to become mayor of Dieppe?

No way ! I will not be at the top of the list. I will be 70 years old in 2026, I want to make way for younger people.

Isn’t it a little early to be thinking about municipal elections?

That’s not the question. I think that people who live in Dieppe can think of the city. Every day that passes, when they encounter difficulties, they think about it. There is a deadline that we must prepare for. We cannot try to develop a program three or four months before the election by saying as usual that everything will be better if we are elected. I do not want the opposition in Dieppe to be fragmented, there must be unity. We have to put people around the table. The union cannot be prepared in the last six months before the election, like last time.

Is it possible to beat Nicolas Langlois?

It is possible to beat everyone, the latest legislative elections are proof of this with the defeat of Sébastien Jumel.
