Arriving last spring, Captain Benoît Tomczak officially took command of the Millavois firefighters during a ceremony this Friday evening.
The moment was solemn. Gathered in their emergency center, the Millavois firefighters, this Friday, October 18, officially welcomed their new leader: Captain Benoît Tomczak. In the presence, in particular, of the prefect of Aveyron Charles Giusti and the president of the Department, president of the SDIS of Aveyron Arnaud Viala and the mayor of Millau Emmanuelle Gazel, the ceremony began with laying of wreaths in memory of the firefighters disappeared.
Then twelve Millavois sappers were promoted, some from master corporal to sergeant and others from 1st class sapper to corporal. Three others were then awarded medals by the prefect: honorary captain Michel Jardeaux and chief warrant officer Christophe Loubat were recipients for “exceptional services with silver rosette”. Master Corporal Frédéric Aragon received the gold medal for thirty years of service.
After a vibrant Marseillaise, Captain Benoît Tomczak was presented with the flag recognizing his commander of the Millavois firefighters. The professional firefighter, aged 55, was previously head of the Saint-Affrique fire and rescue center. Benoît Tomczak, named captain in 2023, “Know how to demonstrate leadership, operational skills and unwavering commitment to teams and populations.”
