at Le Mans, the Open the Gates festival is growing

The Open the Gates association attracted more than a thousand spectators to its first festival in 2023, on Île aux Planches. For the second edition, the choice was made to extend the duration. It was too short last year explains Kunthea, associate artist of the association, who will host this entire festival, the stage of which is reserved for female and mixed artists.

We are going to establish ourselves in several lively cultural places in the city . For example, it is at Blue Zinc, avenue de la Libération, that the “off” festival will begin this Saturday, October 19, with an open musical stage reserved for amateurs (6 p.m.), while Le Barouf, in the city center, will take over with the Nananerf collective and a jukebox evening (from 9 p.m. to midnight). To follow: concert by Henriette & Les Gars and The Golden Avenue on Sunday at the Pilier rouge bar (5 to 8 p.m.); “La place du corps” conference on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Au coeur des artistes workshop (by reservation); theater “It’s up to me to play, the place of women farmers” on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at Hangar Créalab (by reservation); classical concert in tribute to female composers on Wednesday at the Aragon media library (free, 5 p.m.) and cinema with the preview screening of “Sur un fil” on Wednesday also at 8 p.m. at the Colisée (€6).

Two evenings at Saulnières

Then arrive the two highlights of the festival, at Saulnières. On Friday, five artists will participate in the stand-up evening: Marie de Brauer, Mamari, Inès, Alice Lombard and Double A (€10). Saturday, the day will begin with the conference “And tomorrow? » at 4 p.m., before two workshops “laughter yoga” and “journey to 2030” from 5:30 p.m. From 7 p.m., an evening of concerts will see Michelle & the boys, Tedaak, Dorothée Doyer, Seven, and Blanche Esther (free).

In addition to preparing this festival, the Open the Gates association offers artistic support and organizes actions in middle and high schools around hip-hop culture.
