This former Neerpede will return to Anderlecht with Beerschot: “Brian Riemer only spoke to me when he thought he would need me” – All football

Antoine Colassin left Anderlecht for Beerschot this summer. Of course, he hasn’t gotten much out of the experience yet given the circumstances. In an interview with Le Soir, he also gave an honest insight into his relationship with his former coach, Brian Riemer.

Back from the international break, Sporting Anderlecht will face the bottom team, Beerschot, this weekend. The opportunity for Antoine Colassin to rediscover his old colors, and to grant a short interview to our colleagues at Le Soir to return to his relationship with Brian Riemer, at Lotto Park.

He only spoke to me when he thought he needed me.”

“My relationship with Brian Riemer was distant,” he explains. “He only started talking to me when he thought he might need me. There was a kind of distance between him and the junior team. It was even forbidden for players under 23 and their staff to enter the same spaces as the first team, like the restaurant But it would be too easy to blame him entirely.

Concerning Riemer’s tactical qualities, Colassin qualifies the criticism often addressed to the coach. “Defensively, he knew how to put a team together, I have to give him that. But offensively and in possession, it was another story.”

“However, I have to say that I didn’t work with him every day. But if you compare him to Vincent Kompany, then everyone seems tactically limited. Kompany was phenomenal. He was so strong in his approach that sometimes he had to adjust the speed of his lessons to our level.”

Nothing can destabilize David Hubert”

With David Hubert, he had an excellent relationship. “David is incredible. I played with him in U23 and later he became my assistant coach. What he achieved last season with Marink Reedijk in the Challenger Pro League was a small miracle.”

“He has so much charisma that everyone stays calm, even if he gets angry. He is always clear and direct in his instructions. He was the one who always supported me when I had doubts, not only about in terms of football, but also in my personal life.”

Colassin concludes by making a prediction about the future of David Hubert. “His role changes now that he has become head coach, but I believe he will not give in easily to pressure. I think nothing can really destabilize David Hubert. He is always calm and focused on his goals.”
