Right turn at Fayard, with Jordan Bardella

It has already been a year since the young far-right leader has left doubts surrounding the publication of an essay. If the Fayard teams have not communicated anything on this subject, Hachette Livre published, this Tuesday, October 15, 2024, a press release announcing the next publication of What I’m looking for.

« Fayard, one of the major publishing houses of the Hachette Livre group, is delighted to announce the release of Jordan Bardella’s first book […] Saturday, November 9 in bookstores “, we can read on the document. Without giving further details, the group owned by Vincent Bolloré maintains the mystery hovering around the work.

Reason for dismissal?

And yet, some details have not escaped the French press. Starting with the writing of the latter. Last May, The Worldrevealed the participation of several political-media personalities in Mr. Bardella’s essay, including Jean-François Achilli, former political editorialist at Franceinfo.

Which had been suspended as a precautionary measure by Franceinfo on March 14, 2024. After an internal investigation, Radio decided to dismiss him for “repeated violations» to ethics. Mr. Achilli challenged this decision in court, claiming to have only been asked to write the book without ever having formalized an agreement. Answer on November 9…

In the greatest secrecy…

This announcement confirms the pronounced shift to the extreme right of Fayard editions, first marked by the acquisition of Vivendi, which owns Hachette Livre, since November 2023. This was followed by the much-discussed dismissal of Isabelle Saporta in April 2024, replaced by Lise Boëll, classified very right-wing.

The publisher of Éric Zemmour, the current president of Reconquête!, and Philippe de Villiers, therefore chose to publish the work in the greatest secrecy. According toChallengesthe publication of the work would not have been announced in the literary committee, leaving some publishers in confusion.

Note that on November 9, 2024, the date of the book’s release, France will honor the memory of Charles de Gaulle, who died that same day. The president of the RN thus marks a symbolic connection with the figure of the resistance fighter, not without political cynicism.
