One of Jean Prouvé’s legendary demountable houses is exhibited for the first time at Basel

Proven by two! A year after having assembled its famous BCC house in the Tuileries garden, the Patrick Seguin gallery is back in the Basel game by inviting us (from October 15 to 20) to cross the threshold of its 6×9 demountable house, installed this year on avenue Winston-Churchill in the 8e.

Conceived as a modular solution to the post-World War II housing crisis, this historic 54 square meter work takes on new meaning here, standing as a poetic reminder of today’s social and architectural challenges. While questions of housing and sustainable architecture are more relevant than ever, Prouvé’s demountable house resonates with particular relevance. Bonus: the emblematic furniture of Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier and Prouvé – like his famous desk lamps – can be found inside.

About works to view for free

For three days, from October 18 to 20, the Grand Palais reopens its doors to the general public to reveal the cream of contemporary art – even if access requires paying 44 euros! This major meeting of prestigious galleries also extends into the open air, in front of some of the capital’s most emblematic monuments. And good news: exterior access is completely free. follow the leader !

Art Basel side

After the Olympic Games, Art Basel is the first cultural event to be part of the new life of the monument following its renovation. But what exactly will we see there? A good bunch of galleries! 195 to be precise. Throughout the stands, the best of modern and contemporary art parades between installations, paintings, photographs and digital art. You must therefore imagine a (long) walk among thousands of works during which you will be able to come across paintings by David Hockney (Lelong & Co.) as well as pieces by the young textile designer Jeanne Vicerial (Templon). Here is our presentation.

When ? Open from October 15 to 20, 2024.
Or ? Avenue Winston Churchill, 8e.
How much ? Free.
