Due to the water levels observed in Le Mans at the Planches lock and that of Sablé-sur-Sarthe, the State Water and Rivers service of the Sarthe department has decided to prohibit navigation on the Sarthe, from The Raterie lock, near Allonnes, on the edge of Maine-et-Loire. The ban has been in effect since Thursday October 10, 2024.
The river carries ice jams and boaters are advised to exercise caution near the locks.
