But what happened to Donald Trump? While Ali Abbasi’s “The Apprentice” was released in American theaters last weekend to relative anonymity, the former president of the United States attacked the director and producers of the film.

“Any publicity is good publicity”. The famous adage can be applied perfectly to “The Apprentice”. While the biopic dedicated to the youth and rise of Donald Trump has just been released in cinemas, the former President of the United States has vented his anger on social networks.

“A FALSE and CLASSLESS movie written about me called ‘The Apprentice’ (do they even have the right to use that name without my approval?) will hopefully be a flop,” the alleged millionaire wrote on Truth Social. “It’s on-screen cheap, defamatory and politically disgusting, launched just before the 2024 presidential election, in an attempt to harm the greatest political movement in our country’s history, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN ! » (capitals are in the initial message).

And Donald Trump attacked one passage in particular, the scene of a sexual assault that he allegedly inflicted on his first wife, Ivana. “My ex-wife, Ivana, was a kind and wonderful person, and I had a great relationship with her until the day she died. The author of this pile of garbage, Gabe Sherman (the screenwriter, former journalist Editor’s note), is a man without life and without talent.

Ali Abbasi reacted with humor. The Danish director of Iranian origin even invited Donald Trump to the dialogue. “Thank you for your feedback, Donald Trump. I am available to talk more about this if you wish. Today is a busy day with lots of promotion for “The Apprentice”, but I may be able to call you tomorrow. » Not sure he will get a positive response.
