The septuagenarian seriously burned in the fire in her apartment in Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée has died

The fire which broke out in an apartment in a two-story building on rue de l’Armourier, in Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée, this late Monday afternoon, caused one victim.

According to initial information collected by firefighters, a woman aged around 70 was seriously injured. All occupants were evacuated as a safety measure.

Twenty firefighters intervened with six engines, along with the gendarmes and town hall services. They deployed two lances to control the spread of the flames.

The retiree was immediately medically treated, but faced with her very serious injuries, a helicopter was dispatched from Digne to evacuate her.

Unfortunately, the septuagenarian did not survive her injuries and was declared dead by the firefighter, SDIS06 indicated this Monday at 9:18 p.m.

The evacuees were able to return to their apartments safely.

The gendarmerie is taking charge of the aftermath of the intervention and an investigation should be opened to determine the exact causes of this tragedy.
