Club Brugge player’s agent puts the finishing touches on transfer: “The intention is to go as high as possible” – News

Maxim De Cuyper, the 23-year-old full-back of Club Brugge, experienced a career highlight during the Nations League match against Italy by scoring his first goal for the Belgian national team. His achievements do not go unnoticed.

Thanks to his free kick, he helped Belgium come back from a 2-0 deficit to a 2-2 draw. “Maxim is proud that he plays for his country, but the most important thing remains the result,” said Axel Vergeylen, De Cuypers’ agent, at the Italian Number Ten.

De Cuyper is getting more and more opportunities from national coach Domenico Tedesco, who has a lot of confidence in his qualities. According to Vergeylen, that is exactly what De Cuyper strives for.

“The ambition is to become the number one choice in his position at the Red Devils,” says Vergeylen. With his performances at both Club Brugge and Belgium, De Cuyper proves that he is ready to play a key role.

However, Vergeylen emphasizes that De Cuyper remains focused on his current club, while he quietly works towards the next step in his career. “You have to go step by step. First perform at Bruges and then, at the right time, grow into a top club. The goal is to finish as high as possible,” said Vergeylen.

The attacking qualities of the young full-back are of great importance. The strong performance against Italy has attracted the attention of major clubs, including outside Belgium. “Maxim attracts a lot of interest, also from Italy. The Serie A is certainly a great competition, but it is still too early to name names,” concludes Vergeylen.
