In Ivory Coast, the series of collapses of buildings under construction continues. In the economic capital of Ivory Coastin the commune of Attécoubé, in the heart of the dense district of Abobo Doumé, the building with the sky blue facade has toppled onto the houses below.

Marie, who lives about twenty meters away, says: “ I heard a noise, the sound of a big truck. We heard: “Boo-boo-boo-boom!” [Elle mime un bruit brutal et très rapide, NDLR]. But the building had already fallen… Obviously, that worries us, since there are people in the house, there are people downstairs ».

Most of the neighbors were at church. In the perimeter, two excavators are gutting the building. Alban Conan, commander of the fire brigade, explains: “ We are at the stage of widespread removal of rubble and search for victims. We have already created tracking pockets and done explorations, to have access to the victims and to know if these victims are alive or dead. »

The authorities call for compliance with the standards in force

Faced with these recurring collapses, the Ministry of Construction calls on players in the sector to respect the standards in force.
