Manuel Jous’s diagonal: Belgium-, finally the right one?

To face the Blues, Domenico Tedesco has his entire group (compared to Italy, of course…). And we hope that he will rely more on what worked after the half hour (and even more after the red card of Pellegrini…) than before (even if the idea was not to align Jérémy Doku as a right back, assured the German coach, further specifying “I may be crazy, but not completely crazy…”).

Coen Casteels (less uncompromising than in his last outings) will obviously defend the Belgian goals, behind a back line which, one imagines, will be built around four men rather than five. Arthur Theate et Wout Faes (who are not the most to point out) should continue to compose the axis, while on the left Maxim De Cuyper scored points with his superb goal and pronounced offensive involvement in the second half (notably extremely well-kicked corners). For the right side position, Zeno Debastoften between two waters, did not leave an extraordinary impression on Olympic Stadium. The coach could be tempted to revive the usual starter (admittedly lacking playing time in his club): Timothy Castagne.

Unless there is a surprise, the duo composed of Youri TielemansOrel Mangala should be brought back before the defense, even if Aster Vranckx never comes far behind in the esteem of his coach…

For the offensive compartment, the choice is wider but the boxes are checked by default. Leandro Trossard (a goal, an assist in Rome without having delivered a benchmark match) seemed much more comfortable in the center than shifted to the left. It would be logical to take him back there, with a Tissue in its best position (outside left) and, why not Charles De Ketelaere right. The Atalanta player was one of the disappointments of the match in Italy, but Dodi Lukebakios pleaded his case very badly when he entered the game, and Johan Bakayoko seems (curiously and brutally) to have demoted in the hierarchy of Domenico Tedesco. If he wants to be consistent and consistent with his speech in recent weeks, the coach should give CDK another chance. Unless the Lyonnais Malick Fofana tops everyone at the post and is the surprise of the starting eleven? Possible, but we would more readily imagine him entering during the game (ideally, earlier than in the 87th minute). The former Gant player is comfortable on both flanks, and it is precisely on the right that he soared in the Europa League at Glasgow Rangers (2 goals, 1 assist).

Finally, for the center forward position, the problem remains exactly the same as before the previous match. Only one choice is possible, unless you opt for a “false 9” (which would not amount to putting “the best possible players in the best possible positions”…). Loïs Openda will therefore try to score this famous 3rd goal in the selection (the first under Tedesco), more than… two years after the last official, scored during a successful Nations League match against Poland…

Compo probable : Casteels – Castagne, Faes, Theate, De Cuyper – Tielemans, Mangala – De Ketelaere, Trossard, Doku – Openda
