Blood and gold everywhere for Cat’festa: a beautiful Catalan celebration

Catalan language and culture were highlighted.

We celebrated Cat’festa: the Catalan festival. For Marie-Rose Bouisset, ardent lover of the Catalan language and culture: “ The Vallespir Catalan Cultural Center has achieved its objectives. The cross-border friendship that unites our lands on both sides of the Pyrenees and the oral and written Catalan language were celebrated in a remarkable way“.

The event took place, as usual, in the village hall, in collaboration with radio Arrels. Catherine Barnèdes and Jocelyne Ribuigent, municipal council deputies were present. And Ida and Jean-Pierre Vergès, faithful to Catalan culture, came as they do every year.

We started by waking up the city with the musical group Trastok’ts street band which accompanied the giants of Santa Eugenia de Ter and Argelès for the parade along the Balls.

Then, a beautiful tribute was paid to the cross-border association Els amics de Sant Aniol, in which many personalities participated.

Then, the Amistat sardanista danced, a delicious paella brought together more than 200 people. We sang Catalan songs together with Joan Iglesias and the large audience enjoyed the musical program described by Marie-Rose: “Maxime Cayuela (The voice kids) with his now famous Festa de l’os, joined by a moving and talented Julio Leone, finalist of the 3 Euforia competition, who resurrected the 20th birthday of some of us by performing essential songs by Lluis Llach and Joan Giner.

Then came the young Paola from Radio Arrels and her guitar followed by 25 students from the Acadèmia dels Pirineus, the music schools of Saint-Cyprien, Sorède and Prades led by their teachers Nathalie Mengual, Lisa Bonnet Chapuis, Fanny Kobus and François Ragot. A magnificent musical journey interpreted with talent given their young age.

The Friends of Unesco of Girona, continues Marie-Rosewe were offered a finale all in poetry with the young singer Gloria Vila who conquered the audience by singing the poems set to music of La vigència de l’obra de Montserrat Vayreda “.
