Gérard Darmon is the happy father of four children, Virginie, Sarah, Jules and Lena. A large age gap separates the first and last of the daughters of the actor who played Commissioner Bialès in The city of fear. “I was a very young dad, 20 years old, then I was a very old dad, 68 [ans]. It’s like that”, he emphasized in the Unexpected Journal. “It works when you want it to work, when the heart is there, when you do things the right way, if I dare say,” he added about his rather particular family situation. Gérard Darmon received “tons of insults” because of a photo of his daughter posted on social networks
The host revealed an adorable photo of the actor taking his little daughter to school. Gérard Darmon stressed that this photo had caused him to be insulted on social networks. “Tons of insults about what I no longer do now on Facebook and company. Idiots who write”he got annoyed, criticizing a misunderstanding of this image. “I’m lucky, I don’t know if it’s lucky, to have been a father at 20, then at 47 and 49, and after 68. I have had four completely different fatherhoods”, he recalled. The actor had a hard time determining at what age he could have been a better father. “Today, it’s okay. I delegated a lot more to the mother this time. The other two, I took care of her more and the first I grew up with her. It’s not either a solution”, he elaborated however. He then went into more detail about the insults he received when he became a father late in life.. “These insulting letters. ‘What a shame to have had a child like that, you will make an orphan very soon.’ You have no right!‘ Filthy things“, he remembered. Gérard Darmon confided that he had some regrets about his first fatherhood
Gérard Darmon had already spoken about the way in which he carried out his first fatherhood, when he was only 20 years old in Clap !, Laurie Cholewa’s show. He then expressed some regrets. “When you have a child at 20, it’s still very, very early. You grow up with your child and it’s not the best psychologically, to flourish, frankly, it’s not the best for either the dad or the child. Afterwards we catch up on things, but it’s always catching up“, he admitted.
