During the night from Friday to Saturday, a serious road accident occurred in Brillac, at a place called Chez Desset, on the RD 951.
According to La Charente Libre, around midnight, a 38-year-old man, traveling in his Renault vehicle towards Bellac, lost his life after violently leaving the road. According to information provided by the Confolens company gendarmes, the driver attempted to overtake a truck before losing control of his vehicle.
Collision with a truck and projection into a field
The accident occurred while the driver was overtaking a truck. For an as yet undetermined reason, he hit the front of the heavy goods vehicle, causing his vehicle to be thrown into a field adjacent to the road. When emergency services arrived, they found the man in cardiopulmonary arrest. Despite their efforts to try to resuscitate him, the thirty-year-old was declared dead by the SAMU doctor shortly after midnight.
A man from Abzac
According to the information collected, the victim, aged 38, was a mason and lived in Abzac, a town located near the scene of the accident. This tragedy deeply affected the local community.
Another near accident in the same area
This accident sadly echoes another incident that occurred a few days earlier, Thursday, also on the RD 951 in Brillac. A face-to-face collision was narrowly avoided between two vehicles, and a truck carrying fuel oil overturned in the ditch. Following this event, Senator Nicole Bonnefoy sent a letter to the prefect of Charente to express her concerns about the presence of heavy goods vehicles on this road, located in an often rugged rural area of Charente Limousine.
