Archaeological excavations will be carried out on the site of the future silo parking lot, near the Place de l'Académie and the Château d' (Maine-et-). They will, however, be confined to a restricted area of ​​500 to 700 square meters.

Enough to upset the collective opposed to the project, gathered this Saturday, November 16, 2024, on the site. “It’s a real shame to limit these excavations, it won’t allow us to learn much in the end,” notes Romain Laveau, one of its members, also a municipal elected official.

An “iconoclastic” action

The latter, accompanied by around ten people, members of associations and local residents, went to the site this Saturday, November 16, to “a funeral oration” symbolic, after the felling of eight Japanese elms in March 2023.

The action continued with a demonstration featuring… activists in favor of car users. “It’s deliberately iconoclastic, continues Romain Laveau. The aim is to underline the absurdity of the position of the municipality, which remains, we must not hide it, irremediably pro-cars in the city center of Angers. We've tried everything, she doesn't want to hear anything. »
