“In a fraction of a second, my daughter’s life changed”

Ruby, a 7-year-old girl, lost her right eye after an electronic cigarette exploded near Dublin. The girl was seriously injured by battery acid and will now have to wear a prosthetic eye.

The explosion was caused by a fire started in town by young vandals. Ruby was rushed to hospital, where she underwent surgery. Unfortunately, doctors had to remove his right eye. According to them, this is the first case of this kind linked to an electronic cigarette explosion caused by a fire.

Her mother, Ciara, a resident of the neighborhood for six years, denounces the growing insecurity in the city of Fortunestown, saying that she no longer feels safe and that she wants to move. She also fears an increase in incidents as Halloween approaches, a period conducive to unrest in the neighborhood.
