Solène Kate wins the 2024 LGBT Romance Literary Prize with “Girls, Pride & Prejudice”

The LGBT Romance Literary Prize, launched by Éditions Prisma in collaboration with Neon, has crowned its very first winner. Solène Kate, young author, stands out with her first novel Girls, Pride & Prejudicea moving love story between two lesbian heroines that thrills readers.

Launched this Thursday October 10, 2024, the Literary Prize for LGBT Romance is an initiative by Éditions Prisma in collaboration with Néon, a media committed to the LGBTQIA+ cause. This prize aims to promote diversity in romantic literature and to give more visibility for love stories featuring characters who do not have heterosexual loves. Néon, which established itself as an LGBT+ and allied media in February 2024, is now positioning itself as a key player in this initiative by committing alongside Éditions Prisma (owner of the brand, just like Ici).

The jury, chaired by Anna Mangeotqueer activist, author (we owe her in particular Asexual) and entrepreneur, had the mission of select a novel that highlights love in all its formswith deep sensitivity and authenticity. The result is a strong and contemporary literary work which has won over with its originality and inclusive approach.

Who is Solène Kate, winner of the first LGBTQIA+ Romance Literary Prize?

Solène Kate won the first ever LGBT Romance Literary Prize thanks to his novel Girls, Pride & Prejudice. This young author, still little known to the general public, made a remarkable entry into the literary world with this work which combines emotions and reflections on romantic feelings. She thus joins the list of winners of Lauréats, the new literary prize label from Editions Prisma, which has already published six first-time novelists.

Solène Kate’s book tells the story of Tiana, a fantasy author who, after a difficult breakup, decides to write a lesbian romance. Her editor, Alicia, for whom she has feelings, rejects the manuscript, triggering a series of questions about the underlying reasons for this refusal. Through an unexpected writing workshop, the two women meet again and see reality catching up with fiction. Girls, Pride & Prejudice is a tender and complex love story, which explores human relationships with finesse. With this first novel, Solène Kate succeeds in reaching her readership while offering an authentic representation of LGBTQIA+ relationshipsthus marking the start of a promising career.
