500 people with disabilities took part in the fun day at the Waremme balloon center (Photos)

And this year, it was the 16th edition of the event organized by the Province of Liège. “We wanted to imagine the activity as an amusement park, where people can do what they want all day long”explains the Provincial Sports Department.

And it was teeming with people in the main hall, in the locker rooms and other rooms of the ball center.

There was something for all tastes, all sensibilities in the 38 activities – both sporting and fun and well-being – which were offered to the beneficiaries of the initiative: table tennis, foursome, basketball , judo, unihockey, climbing, giant slide, ball pool, arcade games, boccia, face painting, psychomotor skills workshop, massage, hairdressing, manicure…

“We can see it clearly, they are happy”

“The goal is that everyone leaves with their heads full of good memories. This day is a real success. We can see it clearly, they are really happy to have participated”we are told, looking at the participants who come and go. “They will leave with a smile on their face and a medal in their pocket.”

Since it was raining, “we installed the activities and all the inflatable castles in the large hall”. However, a coachman offered tours of the site in a carriage, pulled by two ink-black horses. Cuistaxes were made available on the red slope and ponies from the non-profit organization EquiBalance contributed to animal therapy sessions.

50 institutions participantes

And many of them came to take advantage of the important infrastructure made available to them since there were nearly 500 participants, including beneficiaries and supervisors. “The majority come from around fifty institutions. Many from the district of Huy-Waremme but more widely from throughout the province.”

And that’s without counting the 250 student volunteers who came to lend a hand to the organization. “Students from provincial schools and collegesof course, which include the École Polytechnique de Huy, the IPES de Hesbaye…”
