The prices of gasoline and diesel will increase by 140 yuan (about $19.79) and 135 yuan per ton respectively, the National Development and Reform Commission said in a statement.

China’s three largest oil companies, namely China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petrochemical Corporation and China National Offshore Oil Corporation, as well as oil refineries, have been instructed to maintain oil production and facilitate transportation in order to ensure a stable supply, the commission said.

International oil prices are expected to continue to fluctuate in the short term, according to the commission’s price monitoring center.
