UNITED STATES – There remained a tiny chance of seeing them debate again. But Donald Trump put an end to the suspense. “There will be no rematch! »declared the billionaire Wednesday October 9 on his network, Truth Social. However, two offers were on the table for a new confrontation with Kamala Harris: one from CNN and the other from Fox News.

The former president who dreams of becoming one again puts forward a reason that we are not forced to believe. “Kamala clearly stated yesterday that she would do nothing different from Joe Biden, so there is no room for debate”justified Donald Trump.

The more likely reason for his refusal is to be found in his performance in the debate on September 10. Although he believes he won this duel, the Republican candidate had been largely destabilized by the current vice-president of Joe Biden. The Democrat’s victory was thus recorded by many observers and by post-debate polls.

Donald Trump would rather back down than lose another debate

That evening, on ABC, Kamala Harris had tickled his ego on many subjects – participation in his meetings, the disaffection of his former political allies, his international reputation -, preventing him from developing his vision for the country. While the outcome of the vote is still very uncertain, Donald Trump prefers to retreat to the risk of a new defeat, moreover a few days before November 5.

The ex-president is therefore sticking to his strategy: redouble his attacks at meetings, like this Wednesday in Pennsylvania. “She is incompetent, she cannot be trusted and she is totally incapable of being president”he shouted during a meeting in Scranton, the hometown of his successor in the White House Joe Biden.

The Democratic candidate will return to Pennsylvania on Monday, where one of the Democratic Party’s best emissaries will also visit on Thursday: former President Barack Obama. At the end of the week, she must hold campaign meetings in Arizona and Nevada, two other states which will be decisive for the election, organized by indirect universal ballot.
