Several vehicles have been set on fire in recent weeks in the town of . In the space of two weeks, three cars caught fire. Two were set on fire during the night at the SNCF station, and one caught fire in the Garros district.

These fires appear to be of criminal origin since three separate procedures were opened at the Auch police station for “destruction by a means dangerous to people”, confirms the Auch public prosecutor Clémence Meyer.

At this stage, there is no established link between the different procedures. Investigations are underway by Auch investigators to identify the perpetrators. For the moment, these seem to yield nothing.

Already last June, a car was set on fire in the night in the station’s stop-and-go parking lot. The fire spread to four other vehicles. An investigation, entrusted to the police station, had also been opened there for “destruction by dangerous means”.

Last May, the Gers firefighters responded to a fire in the Garros district. In the heart of the Gers prefecture district, a mechanical excavator was in fact engulfed in flames. It took the intervention of 12 fire fighters to contain the fire and prevent any spread to the rest of the construction equipment. As for the mechanical excavator, only a carcass remained.
