The upstream Loir under surveillance

In addition to an orange “rain-flood” alert in force until midnight for Eure-et-Loir and until 3 a.m. for Yvelines, these two departments are affected by a risk of flooding.

“Rain associated with the Kirk depression continues to circulate between Pays-de-Loire and the basin, still with moderate intensity in places,” indicates Météo France.

In Eure-et-Loir, the passage of showers on the evening of Tuesday October 8 as well as continuous and sustained rain associated with the Kirk depression observed since last night led to a rise in water levels on the upstream Loir river.

“If the weather forecasts are confirmed, particularly heavy rains will continue in this watershed until the night of Wednesday to Thursday, before evacuating through the east of the territory,” indicate the Vigicrues services.

This is an unusual flood for the season.

The equivalent of the average accumulations over the month of October

In the last 6 hours, there have been accumulations of between 30 and 50 mm on the Loire-Atlantique/Eure-et-Loir axis.

In the Yvelines, “in a context where the rains have abundantly watered the soil in recent times, ex-hurricane Kirk brings new moderate to heavy rains to the entire region until the middle of the night from Wednesday to Thursday , favoring flooding”, specifies Météo France.

“Over the episode (from the middle of the night from Tuesday to Wednesday to the evening of Wednesday), we expect accumulations of 60 to 80 mm, and locally 90 mm around an axis going from the Vendée/Loire-Atlantique border and to the Paris basin.”

Be careful, in places, Météo-France warns that the equivalent of the average accumulations over an entire month of October will be observed.
