The burning car was parked in a closed box
Tuesday October 8, 2024, a fire broke out around 11 p.m. in an underground car park of the “Côté Port” residence, located on Quai François Mitterrand in La Ciotat. The fire started in a vehicle parked inside a closed box, according to our information.
Firefighters from the La Ciotat Ceyreste fire and rescue center, quickly dispatched to the site, were supported by the national and municipal police to secure the area and evacuate 53 people.
At the same time, the town hall, located near the disaster, opened its doors to welcome and care for affected residents. Bottles of water and mattresses were offered to the victims.
The fire was brought under control around 1:30 a.m. this Wednesday morning. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
An investigation is underway to determine the origin of the incident.
