17:08 – In the last major men’s match of the day, second seed Alexander Zverev (27) beat Tallon Griekspoor (28) 7-6, 2-6, 7-5 to complete the fourth-round group in Shanghai.
16:17 – Paula Badosa was replaced in the draw by lucky loser Lucia Bronzetti (25) who then beat Ajla Tomljanovic (31) 6-1 7-6.
15:35 – David Goffin (33) beat Marcos Giron (31) 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 to qualify for the fourth round of the Shanghai tournament.
15:00 – Russian rising star Mirra Andreeva (17) beat Chinese wild card Wang Xiyu (23) 7-6, 6-3 to advance to the second round in Wuhan. Mirra’s next opponent will be her older sister Erika!
Veronika Kudermetova (27) also advanced to the round by beating Marie Bouzkova (26) 6-4, 7-6.
14:20 – Nothing to do for Flavio Cobolli at the ATP in Shanghai. Novak Djokovic, in great form, got rid of the Roman native of Florence in two sets with a score of 6-1 6-2 and will now face the Russian Safiullin.

13:14 – Paula Badosa retires after withdrawing due to gastroenteritis before facing Ajla Tomljanovic. The Spaniard risks not qualifying for the WTA Finals in Riyadh: at the moment Emma Navarro is ahead and Barbora Krejcikova, who is behind in the race, still enters as Wimbledon champion.
The former Spanish number two (26) retired in the midst of the controversy raised by the accusation of racism made against her. Badosa had posted a photo on Instagram in which she appeared to imitate a Chinese face, placing chopsticks at the corners of her eyes.
11:08 – Ben Shelton will once again be Jannik Sinner’s opponent in the round of 16 of the Masters 1000 in Shanghai. In the third round the American beat the Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena in two sets: 6-3, 6-4. Last year the blue won the first set with a score of 6-2, then suffering the return of Shelton, who won 6-3 in the second. The third was decided in a tiebreak, won with a score of 7-5 by the American.
10:45 – Taylor Fritz advanced to the fourth round with a comfortable 6-3, 6-4 victory over Japan’s Yosuke Watanuki.
09:20 – The first surprise of the day in Shanghai came thanks to Gael Monfils, with the veteran beating compatriot and sixteenth seed Ugo Humbert 7-6, 2-6, 6-1.
08:40 – Stefanos Tsitsipas won two sets over the Frenchman Alexandre Muller (6-3, 7-5) and thus reaches the round of 16 of the ATP in Shanghai, where he will challenge Danil Medvevev.
07:20 – Flavio Cobolli will face Novak Djokovic around 12.30pm for the round of 32 of the Shanghai tournament. After beating Stanislav Wawrinka in three sets, the Roman will face the greatest of veterans.
