The mobile gendarmes were shot at at the Charbonnières roundabout, at the entrance to the port of Fort-de-, according to police sources.

Several car, pallet, palm tree and trash can fires were started in Fort-de-France in the Texaco, Dillon, and Sainte-Thérèse districts. But also in the municipalities of Case-Pilote, François, Trinité and Rivière-Salée.

A resident of Sainte-Thérèse testifies:

They started by trying to burn the TCSP poles. It was young people who did it. And then they set up roadblocks and then they set fires. They cut branches. Around 3 a.m., we heard explosions, but it was more the cars. But I think it’s more at the back, towards the entrance to Dillon, because we could hear a lot more noise in the distance, but they stayed quite a long time. At 4 a.m., there was no one there. So the route is impassable. I went out to see, but it’s still anguish, because there’s smoke. They put tires on, so it doesn’t smell good. Cars burning, all that. It’s really like the beginning. Maybe a little less violent, but still quite stressful.

A gunshot wound

On the same evening, a man was reported injured by gunshot near Montgérald (Fort-de-France) between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., without information indicating, at this stage, whether or not his injury is linked to the urban violence of the night. . The victim was taken to the hospital and his life was not in danger.
