A speech that sparks debate. To promote her Memoirs, Melania Trump recently unveiled a teaser video in which she makes a pro-abortion speech. “There is no doubt that there is no room for compromise when it comes to this essential right that all women possess from birth,” she said, before continuing: “What does ‘My body, my choice’ really mean?” A statement all the more surprising given that Donald Trump, campaigning for the presidential election in the United States, is firmly opposed to voluntary termination of pregnancy (abortion). For some media, this position has been compared to a real betrayal of her husband.
“I don’t think we’ve ever seen, in history, a candidate’s wife say: ‘I completely disagree with my husband’s party on a key issue.’“, declared Van Jones, CNN editorialist. On the sets of American talk shows, some journalists even go so far as to say that Melania “hated” Donald Trump. “Maybe Melania will show up at a meeting with Kamala Harris !”added Van Jones. Faced with the controversy, the former Slovenian-American model was forced to justify herself. “Donald knows my beliefs […] and let me be who I am”recalled Melania Trump during her recent appearance on Fox News.

Reactions to Melania Trump’s comments could gain even more momentum. The reason? In her Memoirs, the former First Lady of the United States goes even further in her reasoning on abortion. “It is imperative to ensure that women have the autonomy to decide their preference for having children, based on their personal beliefs, without any government intervention or pressure.”she wrote, as reported Free Midday this Saturday, October 5. And to conclude: “Restricting a woman’s right to choose to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is to deny her control over her own body. This belief has stayed with me throughout my adult life.”
