Nyon (VD): a 25-year-old Swiss man dies in an accident

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, around 1 a.m., a traffic accident occurred on the road from Geneva to Nyon. On site, the police noticed that a vehicle was engulfed in flames. Its occupants were no longer on board, specifies the Vaud cantonal police in a press release.

First aid was given to both victims. One of them, a 25-year-old Swiss man living in Gros de Vaud, was airlifted to the CHUV where she died shortly after admission. As for the second occupant, a 21-year-old Swiss man living in La Côte, he was transported to the GOHL in Nyon, then to the CHUV. His days are not in danger.

The public prosecutor was informed and the duty prosecutor opened a criminal investigation. She entrusted the investigations to gendarmerie specialists in order to determine the exact causes and circumstances of this accident. The road was closed for the purposes of the investigation and reopened late in the morning, at the end of the operations.

This event required the intervention of two Nyon Region Police patrols, two gendarmerie patrols, specialists from the traffic unit, the Nyon-Dôle SDIS with thirteen firefighters and four vehicles, a helicopter from REGA, an ambulance and a SMUR vehicle from Nyon as well as staff from the DGMR and the road service for closing and cleaning the road.
