A 40-year-old woman from Frasnes-lez-Anvaing is still between life and death on Sunday after an accident that occurred the day before on the A19 motorway, said the Ypres section of the West Flanders prosecutor’s office. A ghost driver is at the origin of the accident, which has already cost the life of the victim’s husband.

Emergency services were called to respond shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday to an accident on the A19 motorway towards Ypres. According to the findings of the traffic expert, a vehicle entered the wrong direction on the road and then collided violently with the car of a family from Frasnes-lez-Anvaing (Hainaut).

The father, aged 63, was killed instantly. The mother, aged 40, was taken to hospital in critical condition and was still between life and death on Sunday, according to the prosecution. A 13-year-old girl was also seriously injured, while her twin sister suffered minor injuries.

The ghost driver was also taken to the hospital. This will be presented on Sunday evening to an investigating judge, who will have to decide whether to place her under arrest warrant or not.

On Saturday morning, she had already been involved in another accident in Menen, according to the public prosecutor’s office. The public prosecutor also indicated that the day before the accident, the suspect had appeared before a police court.
